Two Alamedans Awarded Scouts BSA’s Highest Rank
Alameda residents Jack Wilheim and Joseph Donavan of BSA Troop 78 received the rank of Eagle Scout after both members earned more than 21 Merit badges and completed their Eagle Scout Service Projects.
Wilheim’s service project was planning, organizing, and leading the building of the Gaga Ball court just west of the Washington Park tennis courts. Donavan’s project was planning, organizing, and leading the building of the Nativity Scene for the St. Philip Neri Church. Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Scouts BSA.
Since the first Eagle Scout awarded in 1912, only 4% of Scouts have earned this award after a lengthy review process. Troop 78 is charted by St. Philip Neri Church. Meetings are held every Monday at 7 p.m., 1335 High Street. Membership is open to everyone between the ages of 10 to 18.
