Track Teams Compete in Section Tourneys
Members of the Alameda High School (AHS) and Encinal High School (EHS) track-and-field teams competed in the NCS Bayshore championships on May 13, at Hayward High School.
EHS senior Anthony Jones finished fourth out of 24 participants in the men’s 400-meter race with a time of 49.85. He also came in 12th place out of 24 athletes in the men’s 200-meter race with a time of 23.0. In his third event, he finished third place in the men’s long jump at 21’ 7.25” out of 22 athletes.
Jones’ teammate Aiden Letson finished fourth out of 21 competitors in the men’s 300-meter hurdles race with a time of 43.18. The senior also finished fourth out of 24 participants in the men’s high jump with a length of 5’ 10”. EHS senior Jeremy Hall came in sixth place out of 21 athletes in the men’s shot put, clearing 43’ 1”. He also finished sixth out of 22 participants in the men’s discus competition, clearing 117’ 4”.
AHS junior Max Bellotti came in 11th place out of 24 participants in the men’s 1,600-meter race with a time of 4:34.67. Bellotti and the rest of his men’s relay teammates Lars Petersen, Theo Hartlaub and Nathaniel Carter finished fifth out of 16 teams in the 4x800-meter relay race with a collective time of 8:41.09.
AHS sophomore Lindsay Todaro finished sixth out of 25 participants in the women’s 800-meter race with a time of 2:24.53. EHS sophomore Katelyn Shafer finished 13th with a time of 2:33.79. Her teammate Sophie Carpenter, a senior, finished third out of 20 participants in the women’s 3,200-meter race with a time of 11:48.63. AHS junior Lilia Brack came in fifth place out of 23 athletes in the women’s 100-meter hurdles race, finishing at 17.91.
Todaro and her teammates Hazel Henrikson, Billie Jenks, Leomi Wu finished fourth out of 10 teams in the women’s 4x800-meter relay with a time of 10:51.29.
EHS junior Isabela Macias-Fraser finished 14th out of 23 participants in the women’s 1,600-meter race with a time of 5:48.16. Her teammate Lauren Marston finished 19th out of 23 athletes in the women’s 100-meter dash with a time of 13.61. The freshman also finished 17th out of 22 participants in the women’s 200-meter race with a time of 27.57.
The St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) track-and-field team competed in the NCS Class A Championships at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa on May 13.
SJND senior Teo Salgues finished 12th out of 17 people in the men’s 200-meter race with a time of 23.67. The SJND team finished fifth out of nine teams in the men’s 4x100-meter relay race with a time of 47.36.
SJND junior Luisa Barrantes came in at 53.0 in the women’s 300-meter hurdles race putting her in sixth place out of 16 participants. Similar to the men’s team, the women’s team finished fifth in the women’s 4x100-meter relay race out of 17 teams with a time of 53.15.
