Track & Field Section Tourney Results

 

Several Alameda athletes competed in the North Coast Section Meet of Champions Final Saturday, May 26 at UC Berkeley. 

Men’s Competitions
Alameda High (AHS) senior Ramir Smith finished third in men’s 100-meter race, out of eight participants, with a time of 10:96. Smith was less than a tenth of a second behind eventual winner Armauni Archie of El Cerrito who finished with a time of 10:89. 

Archie won a photo finish over Femi Ajose from San Leandro who also finished with a time of 10:89 for second place. Smith’s time was six one-hundredths (10.90) of a second behind his personal best time in the 100 meters, which he achieved this season at the Sacramento Meet of Champions on April 28.

Smith finished fifth, out of eight participants, in the men’s 200-meter race with a time of 22.39. Camerson Reynolds from Clayton Valley High of Concord won the race with a time of 21.58. Max Glasser from Marin Catholic of Kentfield came in second with a time of 21.66. Ajose rounded out the top three with a time of 21.98.

AHS senior Ethan West finished 23rd in the men’s 3,200-meter race with a time of 10:19.67. 
St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) sophomore Zavier Annis finished 12th, out of 26 participants, in the men’s long jump. Annis traveled 20’ 3” on his jump. Malcom Clemons from St. Mary’s won the competition with a jump length of 24’ 0.4”.

Women’s Competitions
Encinal (EHS) junior Shelby Nelson came in sixth place, out of 12 competitors, in the women’s 1,600-meter race. Nelson completed the distance in 4:58.98. 

Gabrielle Peterson of Healdsurg won the race with a time of 4:48.91. Rylee Bowen from Sonoma Academy of Santa Rosa came in second with a time of 4:55.94. Cassidy Haskell from Miramonte of Orinda rounded out the top three with a time of 4:56.81.

AHS junior Lauren Lum finished sixth in the women’s 3,200-meter race. Twenty-four athletes took part in the competition. Lum crossed the finish line with a time of 10:56.99. Right behind her was SJND junior Emily Perez. Perez earned the seventh spot after crossing the finish line with a time of 10:58.80. Nelson wound up in 15th place with a time of 11:22.83. 

Gillian Wagner from Redwood of Larkspur won the race with a time of 10:25.95. Sophomore Kelli Wilson from Monte Vista of Danville came in second with a time of 10:33.97. Colleen McCandless from Granada of Livermore finished third with a time of 10:43.34.
