Toy Program Underway
The 2018 Alameda Firefighters Toy Program (AFTP) is underway. The program will ensure that all low-income Alameda parents who sign up at the Alameda Food Bank receive age-appropriate holiday toys for their children from newborns to age 12 and $25 gift cards for youth ages 13 to 17.
Parents needing toys can sign up at the Alameda Food Bank on or before Saturday, Dec. 8, by visiting alamedafoodbank.org or calling 523-5850. The program especially needs donations of crafts, sports balls and items for older children.
Cash donations are also needed to purchase gift cards. Make checks payable to Alameda Firefighters Toy Program and mail to AFTP, P.O. Box 6523, Alameda, CA 94501. Donations are tax-deductible.
Donors can drop off new, unwrapped toys at any of the four fire stations or at:
- City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Ave.
- Alameda Housing Authority, 701 Atlantic Ave.
- Alameda Police Department, 1555 Oak St.
- Alameda Free Library, 1550 Oak St.
- Alameda Recreation & Park Dept., 2226 Santa Clara Ave.
- Alameda Municipal Power, 2000 Grand St.
Many commercial businesses are also serving as drop-off sites. For more information, contact Jim Franz, AFTP Coordinator, at 913-0171 or email email@example.com. A complete list of toy drop-off sites is available at alamedaca.gov.
