Summer Sessions for Paddle Board Camp Set

Young people in and around Alameda can learn to “walk on water” at Mike’s Paddle Kids Stand-up Paddleboard (SUP) Summer Camp. Explore beautiful Ballena Bay while learning to SUP. Taking in breathtaking views of San Francisco, meeting underwater friends and enjoying the summer sun are just a few of the perks for this week-long, full-day camp.

Open to boys and girls ages 9 to 14, this camp will provide paddling instruction, promote team-building and leadership skills and foster a life-long love of living an active lifestyle through outdoor aquatic sports. Activities take place both on land as well as in the water. Learn about the ecosystem, the history of SUP, the equipment and, of course, how to SUP!

Head coach Mike Wang has 16 years of paddle experience including kayaking, canoeing and SUP. Wang, along with other trained and enthusiastic camp leaders, are excited to make this a summer campers will not forget. Camps run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and cost $475 per week. Other fees apply. See schedule below.

New this year, is a special Alameda Waterman’s Camp between July 10 and 14 for those who have participated in the SUP summer camp before and are looking for a more intensive and competitive experience. This camp will introduce the sports of Paddlefit, SUP racing, outrigger canoe, kayak and dragon boat.

Kids must be able to swim. Water sports experience is helpful but not neccessary.

Kids under 9 with either a lot of water experience or are mature in size and personality may be accepted. Kids older than 14 can qualify as junior counselors (discounts apply).
