Summer Concerts to Benefit Kids
The opening night in a series of free concerts features the Mike Amaral’s California Beach Boys, a tribute to the original Beach Boys rock band at South Shore Center.
The Summer Beats Concert Series offers free live music every other Saturday, starting Saturday, July 19. All performances take place in the Center Court from 5 to 7 p.m.
The concerts continue through Labor Day weekend and feature fun family activities including face painting, henna tattoos, raffles and more.
R&B Wine Cellars will pour some of its most popular releases for adults to purchase and enjoy, with proceeds benefitting the Equipped 4 Success school supply drive.
Volunteers will be onsite to collect backpacks and school supplies to support low-income students as part of the drive. Visit http://alamedaeducationfoundation.org for more information.
Upcoming concerts include: Salsa Saturday on Saturday, Aug. 2, with Tito Garcia Y Su Orquesta Internacional; Summer Connection on Saturday, Aug. 16, with the Sun Kings, Alameda’s famed Beatles tribute band; and Labor Day weekend, Saturday, Aug. 30, Pure Ecstasy performs its Motown style sound.
