Student Speeches to be Awarded

Alameda students in grades nine through 12 who have written speeches with the theme: “Celebrating the Legacy of Nelson Mandela” will receive cash awards for their efforts Saturday, March 22, noon to 2 p.m. at the Alameda Main Library, 1550 Oak St. The city-wide speech contest is held in celebration of the international Season of Non Violence each year. Participating schools select the best speech writers to compete.
