StopWaste Offers Grant Funding — $1.1 Million for Reducing Waste
StopWaste is offering $1.1 million in grant funding to nonprofits, businesses, and institutions with projects aimed at increasing individual, business, and community involvement in the prevention of waste in Alameda County.
There are several grant funding opportunities available including: up to $20,000 per request for food waste prevention and recovery, and reuse and repair programs; and up to $10,000 per request for reusable transport packaging, surplus food donation equipment, and community food systems grants. StopWaste will offer $5,000 to $50,000 in grants for reusable foodware programs and up to $500 for food scrap bin programs.
The food waste prevention and recovery grants will fund innovative projects that incorporate food waste prevention and the recovery and redistribution of food for donation. The goal of the reuse and repair programs receiving grants will be to minimize the need for disposal or recycling, and instead foster waste reduction to support environmental sustainability and conservation of natural resources.
Each program receiving a grant must be located in Alameda County. Grant applications are due by March 3. Grantees will be announced on May 18. To learn more about the grant program, visit www.stopwaste.org/at-work/stopwaste-grants.
StopWaste is a public agency governed by the Alameda County Waste Management Authority, the Alameda County Source Reduction and Recycling Board, and the Energy Council designed to help Alameda County’s businesses, residents, and schools waste less, recycle properly, and use water, energy, and other resources efficiently.
