St. Joe’s Soccer Results

Saint Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) got a huge 1-0 road victory last Saturday against St. Patrick/ St. Vincent in Vallejo.

The win was important for the Pilots because it stopped a seven-game winless streak for the team. The Pilots went 0-6-1 during the stretch. SJND’s last win was a 4-2 victory over Red Bluff on Dec. 6 in the Foothill Tournament.

SJND junior forward Michael Monica scored the game’s only goal in the 11th minute. The Pilots defense stifled the Bruins the whole game. The Bruins only attempted three shots on goal in the entire contest. All three shots were stopped by senior goalie Erik Costello.

On the other hand, the Pilots were aggressive on offense constantly putting the Bruins’ defense on its heels. The Pilots mustered up 13 shots on goal with the one by Monica squeaking by the Bruins’ goalie for the goal.

The Pilots are now 4-6-1 as of Tuesday, Jan. 14 on the season. They played Richmond on Tuesday and face Albany on the road today.
