Special USS Hornet Museum Event Scheduled for Saturday

The USS Hornet Sea, Air and Space Museum will hold its CarrierCon event Saturday March 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CarrierCon is a convention celebrating cosplay, tabletop gaming, and Western and Japanese media while also taking in the great history of the USS Hornet. Museum staff uses CarrierCon to engage with new audiences and broaden awareness of the museum as well as to celebrate the ingenuity of technology and engineering for both the living and workspaces aboard this historic aircraft carrier.

CarrierCon was created by museum staff to inform the public of the connection between pop culture and history (think about Star Trek IV), as many popular movies, television shows and video games have been influenced by military and Navy vessels, uniforms, and general aesthetics. Patrons are welcome to come dressed in their favorite cosplay outfits.

More than 700 people attended the inaugural CarrierCon in 2019. The 2020 and 2021 CarrierCon events were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tickets to CarrierCon are $35 for a general pass, and $25 for a youth pass (17 and under). To purchase a ticket, visit https://uss-hornet.org/carriercon.

The USS Museum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that utilizes USS Hornet and the collections, exhibitions, and educational programming to promote awareness and understanding of history, science, technology, and service. All proceeds made from CarrierCon will go to support the museum.
