The 2013-2014 high school winter soccer season came to a close last weekend after all three women’s teams were ousted from the North Coast Section (NCS) playoffs.

The Alameda HIgh women’s soccer team (14-7-3) earned a 12 seed, out of 16 teams, in the NCS Division I playoffs. The Hornets upset fifth seed Amador Valley of Pleasanton 3-1 in the first round on Feb. 19. The Hornets lost to fourth-seed College Park of Pleasant Hill on Saturday, Feb. 22, in the second round. The match was tied 1-1 at the end of overtime, but the Falcons ourshot the Hornets 5-3 in penalty kicks.

The Encinal women’s soccer team (12-8-1) was designated 12th in the NCS Division II playoff bracket. The Jets upset fifth seed Albany 3-2 in the first round on Feb. 19. However, the Jets’ playoff run ended after a 3-1 loss to Las Lomas of Walnut Creek in the second round on Saturday, Feb. 22.

The St. Joseph Notre Dame women’s soccer team (6-6-2) entered the NCS Division II playoffs as a 15 seed. The Pilots were no match for the Bishop O’ Dowd of Oakland offensive firepower as the Pilots lost 7-0, ending its season.
