Two Alameda high school women’s teams received bids to the North Coast Section (NCS) soccer playoffs.

Alameda
The Alameda High women’s team was given the 14th seed in the NCS Division II playoff. However, the team fell to number three seed Northgate of Walnut Creek 2-0 on Feb. 15 in the opening round.

The season was still an improvement from last season when the Hornets went 4-15-3. This year the team went 12-4-2 overall in the regular season. They also finished first in the West Alameda County Conference Shoreline league with a 10-1-1 league record. Alameda also beat rival Encinal twice this year. The first was a 3-0 win on Jan. 21. The second was a 1-0 victory on Feb. 2.

Encinal
The Encinal High women’s team also earned a berth in the NCS playoffs. They were awarded the 14th seed in the NCS Div. III playoffs. They, too, suffered the same fate as the Hornets with an opening round defeat. The Jets lost 8-0 to Piedmont on Feb 15.

The Jets went 6-7-2 in the regular season before their playoff loss. They finished third in the Shoreline League.
