SJND Freshman Records Three Top-Five Finishes at Section Track Meet

St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) freshman Michael Loller finished second in the men’s 100-meter race in the North Coast Section (NCS) Class A Track-and-Field Championships Saturday, May 14, at Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa.

Loller finished the race with a time of 11.41, a personal record for the freshman. He finished two, one-hundredths of a second behind first place. Drew High School junior Ronen Stewart finished first out of 18 runners with a time of 11:39. Loller also finished fifth in the men’s 200-meter race with a time of 23.64. Alameda High School junior Jack Westfall finished 14th out of 17 participants with a time of 24.9.

Loller was part of the SJND men’s 4x100-meter relay team that finished fifth out of 10 teams in the race with a time of 46.01. Loller competed with his teammates Teo Salgues, Bryan McCray and Ethan Daon. SJND finished fourth out of six teams in the men’s 4x400-meter relay race with a time of 3:42.70. The team consists of Jason Arellano, Samuel Kohler, Thomas McCue and Arlo Rucker.

The SJND women’s 4x400-meter relay team finished seventh out of eight teams in their race with a time of 4:38.02. The team consists of Isabella Edens, Isabella Corral, Jaida Sieu and Natalie Perez. Perez, a senior, also finished 10th out of 17 participants in the women’s 1,600-meter race with a time of 5:28.81.

The Alameda and Encinal high school track-and-field teams competed in the NCS Area Meet on May 14. Their results were not posted online as of Monday, May 16.
