St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) student-athlete Emily Perez announced she will attend Oregon State University (OSU) at her signing-day ceremony Nov. 14 on the SJND campus.
Perez, a senior, has been a member of the SJND cross-country team all four years of high school. She will join the OSU team next fall.

Perez was accompanied at the ceremony by her parents Jennie and Danilo Perez, her sisters Danielle and Natalie, other relatives and friends. SJND athletic director Fana Fuqua, Principal Ken Jennings and cross-country coach Tony Fong spoke to the crowd before Perez signed her letter of intent.

Perez has had a stellar career as a Pilot cross-country runner. She helped the Pilots earn North Coast Section (NCS) Div. V titles as a freshman and sophomore. She had the best individual time in last year’s NCS title race. She completed the three-mile distance in 17:43.20. This year she finished first in the 5K at the Stanford Invitational and the Asics Clovis Cross Country Invitational.

Eleven SJND athletes from the cross country and track programs have joined an NCAA Division 1 program in the past six years. OSU is located in Corvallis, Ore. and is a member of the Pac-12 conference.
