SJND Alum Runs in Nat’l Meet

St. Joseph Notre Dame alum Cooper Teare finished sixth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) 10K championship race on Nov. 23, at the LaVerne Gibson Cross Country Course in Terra Haute, Ind.

Teare finished the race with a time of 30:49.2. He was less than 17 seconds behind winner senior Edwin Kurgat of Iowa State University who finished in 30:32.7. Teare was one of 253 participants in the race.

Teare, a junior at University of Oregon, led the Ducks to a ninth place team finish out of 31 teams. 

Three weeks prior Teare finished second in the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships on Nov. 1, at the Ash Creek Preserve in Monmouth, Ore. He finished the 8,000-meter race in 23:05.7. He was three seconds behind winner Joe Klecker of University of Colorado at 23:02.7.
