Shred Day A Success
On Friday, Aug. 14, Bank of Marin’s South Shore Alameda branch encouraged residents to bring boxes of documents for shredding and donate new school supplies at the same time.
The bank’s Alameda marketing manager John Jacobs joined Vicki Sedlack, the executive director of the Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) to help collect 30 backpacks, 12 boxes of school supplies and cash donations with a combined value of more than $1,500 for the "Equipped 4 Success" school supply drive.
Equipped 4 Success is a community–wide school supply drive in partnership with AEF, the Alameda Unified School District, Alameda Youth Collaborative and local non-profits and benefits low-income students in Alameda.
The team also shredded 6,000 pounds of documents and will recycle the paper pulp for use in new paper goods. Bank of Marin supports education foundations throughout the North and East Bay and donated $1,000 to the Alameda Education Foundation earlier this year.
