Show Celebrates Figurative Art
The Figure, A Bay Area Legacy, the latest exhibition of works at Gary Francis Fine Art, opens tomorrow night at 6 p.m. as part of Alameda’s second Friday art opening tradition.
Artists exhibiting evocative works celebrating the human body include: Kanna Aoki, Claudia Bicen, Olivia Chen, Gary Comoglio, Natasha Dikareva, Nathaniel Evans, Jane Fisher, Kim Frohsin, Chris Kanyusik, Diego Marcial Rios, Erica Norelius, Shilo Ratner, Fernando Reyes, Brandon Smith, Sandy Walker and Nina Katz. The show runs through April 27.
On Sunday, April 13, from 2 to 4 p.m., exhibiting artist Rios will perform live demonstrations of woodcut printmaking techniques. A limited edition of 10 copies from a single woodcut block will be signed and sold for $75 each. Some of Rios’ woodcuts are in the Achenbach Collection of fine prints at the Palace of Legion of Honor in San Francisco.
