Shootings on Westline Drive

 

According to the Alameda Police Department, just before 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, an 85-year-old man came into the Crown Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 508 Westline Drive, and shot a relative, an 85-year-old woman. 

Police said that the man shot the woman to ease her pain and suffering, and then turned the gun on himself. Both the victim and the perpetrator survived. 

Paramedics transported the pair to Highland Hospital in Oakland, where police placed the suspected shooter under armed guard. Both the shooter and the victim regained consciousness the next day, police said. 

APD recovered a gun at the scene. They are only identifying the suspect as an Alameda resident. Police have not commented the identity of the victim.
