Seussical the Musical Set at Kofman
Alameda’s Tomorrow Youth Repertory in association with Alameda Children’s Musical Theatre will present Seussical the Musical this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Kofman Auditorium, 2200 Central Ave. Suessical debuted on Broadway in 2000. The story is based on characters and scenarios from the enormously popular books and beloved characters of Dr. Suess.
The plot largely mirrors that of Horton Hears a Who! and Horton the Elephant’s attempts to protect the people who live on a tiny speck of dust called Who-ville. In the end, a little boy with a big imagination proves that a person is a person no matter how small.
The musical score includes such unforgettable numbers as Horton and Jojo’s "Alone in the Universe," Gertrude’s "Amazing Gertrude" and Mayzie and The Cat’s catchy "How Lucky You Are." The musical ends with the entire cast singing their hearts out in "Oh, the Thinks You Can Think."
Performances are at 7 p.m., tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 7; 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8; and 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 9. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children.
