Schools to Serve Free Meals
This summer the Alameda Unified School District will serve free breakfasts and lunches in Alameda for all children and teens 18 years and younger Monday through Friday, except for Thursday, July 4.
Free breakfast will be served at four locations: Wood Middle School, 420 Grand St., and Ruby Bridges Elementary School (RBES), 351 Jack London Ave., from Monday, June 24, through Friday, July 19, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.; at the Alameda Point Collaborative (APC), 677 West Ranger Ave., from June 24 through Friday, Aug. 9, from 9 to 10 a.m. and at Alameda Boys & Girls Club, 1900 Third St., June 24 through Aug. 9 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Free lunch will be served at seven locations from June 24 through Aug. 9: Alameda Boys & Girls Club from noon to 1 p.m.; APC from from noon to 1 p.m.; Washington Park, 740 Central Ave., from noon to 1 p.m.; Shinsei Garden Apartments, 401 Stargell Ave., from noon to 1 p.m.; Academy of Alameda, 401 Pacific Ave., (through Friday, July 26) noon to 1 p.m.; Wood Middle School from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and RBES from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
A parent or guardian may accompany younger children, but only the child will receive breakfast or lunch. No application is needed to participate.
