The 55th annual Sand Castle and Sand Sculpture Contest will be held June 10 at Robert Crown Memorial State Beach. The contest begins at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. Structures must be completed by noon. Judging starts soon after until approximately 1 p.m.

Sandcastle and sculpture contest categories include:
• ages 12 Years and under
• ages 13 Years and over
• family

The event is hosted by the Alameda Recreation and Parks Department and is free. Last year, more than 220 people participated in the competition. The Burgess family won first place in the family sculpture category ("https://alamedasun.com/news/54th-sand-castle-contest-winners-announced," June 16, 2022) for their “Giant Gnome” sculpture (pictured above).
