Rotary Club Announces 2018 Scholarships


Each year the Rotary Club of Alameda confers academic scholarships to outstanding students attending high schools in Alameda.  This year the club will award more than $20,000 ranging from $500 for vocational scholarships to $3,000 for academic scholarships. Criteria include academic achievement, community service involvement, extra-curricular activities participation, financial need and quality of the oral interview.

In addition, two $500 fine arts scholarships will be awarded based on nominations from high school principals.

Students attending Alameda High, Alameda Science and Technology Institute, Encinal High, Island High and St. Joseph’s Notre Dame High schools are encouraged to apply.

Applications are available at and must be submitted electronically to Les Hilger at no later than Friday, April 27.  

Applicants will be screened and invited to interviews before Rotary’s Scholarship Committee on Wednesday and Thursday, May 16 and 17, from noon to 4 p.m. Winners will be recognized at Rotary’s Scholarship Award Luncheon scheduled for Tuesday, May 29.
