Public Utilities Board President Appointed as NCPA Chair

City of Alameda Public Utilities Board (PUB) President Jerry Serventi has been appointed to serve as Chair of Northern California Power Agency (NCPA). Servanti already serves as NCPA Commissioner.

“Chair Serventi has served Alameda’s Public Utilities Board for the past five years and his experience and leadership in public power will be a great asset to the NCPA leadership team,” said Alameda Municipal Power General Manager Nicolas Procos. “We are delighted that he will be the first Chair of NCPA from Alameda in the 50+ year history of NCPA.”

In addition to his role with the NCPA and Alameda PUB, Serventi has served on the boards of the Bay Planning Coalition and the California Marine Affairs and Navigation Congress. Chair Serventi holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and is a licensed civil engineer in the state of California.

Serventi has been a member of the Alameda PUB since 2017 and has served as President since 2021. He has served on the NCPA commission since 2018. Serventi has been an integral part of many projects and initiatives as a member of PUB. The most noteworthy was the transition to 100% clean energy for all Alameda customers while maintaining rates 35% below PG&E, saving Alamedans about $35 million this fiscal year.

Headquartered in Roseville, California, NCPA is a nonprofit California joint powers agency established in 1968 to construct and operate renewable and low-emitting generating facilities and assist in meeting the wholesale energy needs of its members.
