Pilots Disarm Warriors in 6-1 Win

The St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) baseball team made quick work of the Swett Warriors in a 6-1 victory on Monday, May 9, on the road. The team from Crockett was no match for the Pilots’ offense and pitching duo.

The Pilots needed just two innings to put away the Warriors. By the second inning the game was never in doubt.

The Pilots scored four runs in the top half of the first inning. They added two more runs in the top of the second inning. The Pilots were a terror at the plate. They went seven of 22 at the plate for a .318 percentage. Of the seven hits just one, a double by junior Angel Munoz, was an extra base hit.

Munoz and sophomore Steven Manzo led the team with two hits apiece. Munoz collected two RBIs, while Manzo, junior Hunter Hennigh and junior Vincent Republicano each had an RBI.

SJND’s pitchers were also impressive on the mound. SJND junior Satchel Fisher got the nod to start the contest for the Pilots. He did not give up any runs in the first three innings. However, he did run into some trouble in the fourth, but was able to finish the inning allowing just one run. Junior Joseph Ratto entered the game in the fifth inning and pitched three scoreless innings.

Fisher allowed one run in four innings giving up four hits, two walks and four strikeouts. Ratto pitched three scoreless innings allowing no hits or walks and striking out two batters.

The win moves the Pilots record to 19-4 overall and in a three-way tie with Swett and Albany for second place in the Tri-county Athletic League at 7-3. De Anza of El Sobrante (10-0) is in first place.

The Pilots will play its season finale against Lick-Wilmerding of San Francisco on Saturday, May 24 on the road.
