Pilot Golfer Qualifies for Section Tournament

St. Joseph Notre Dame women’s golf team member Cecilia Zhuo qualified for the North Coast Section (NCS) Div. 1 women’s golf championship, which is to be played on Monday, Oct. 31 at the Foxtail Golf Club South Course in Rohnert Park.

Zhou earned her spot after finishing 11th overall as an individual in the NCS Div.2 women’s golf Championship/Individual qualifier tournament on Oct. 24 at Rooster Run Golf Course in Petaluma. The top 18 individual golfers qualify for the Div. 1 competition.

Zhou competed in the qualifier tournament with her Pilot teammates. As a team, the Pilots finished fourth out of the ten teams that participated in the team competition. However, only the top three teams qualify for the Div. 1 championship.

Before competing in the NCS Div. 2 qualifier, the Pilots won their Bay Area Conference league on Oct. 17. The Pilots had the luxury of home course advantage as the competition was played at the Chuck Corica Golf Complex. Zhuo placed second overall in the league championship event.

The Alameda High School women’s golf team will also compete in the NCS Div. 1 women’s golf championship on Monday in the team competition. Their team consists of Penny Chai, Hannah Kwon, Nyomi Stevenson, Nylani Stevenson, Abigail Lam, and Nicole Tran.
