Oh, Wright Tapped as Grand Marshals
Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft recently announced that the city will honor Gene Oh, owner of Alameda Bicycle (pictured above) and Otto Wright, owner of The Local café (below) with their appointments as grand marshals of the 2019 Fourth of July Parade.
Oh conceived of and organizes the annual 2019 Alameda Bike for the Parks fundraiser that raises thousands of dollars for Alameda parks each year. Through his bike shop he organizes many free rides each year, with tips and maintenance included.
Wright has hosted community food and supply drives for victims of the North Bay fires, for federal government employees during the government shutdown and residents of Midway Shelter. He also employs students with disabilities through a program at Alameda Unified School District.
“Please wave hello to Otto and Gene at the parade,” Ashcraft noted in her announcement.
