Next Love the Island Art Walk Set

“Untitled” by Nicole Mueller, is one of three window installations in the Downtown Alameda District that will help create the vibrant, artistic experience known as the Love Our Island artwalk set for Friday, Sept. 14. Courtesy photo.

On Friday, Sept. 14, from 6 to 9 p.m. colorful collage art and poetic projections exploring the themes of migration and conflict will be on display in the previously empty storefront windows at the corner of Park Street and Santa Clara Avenue in downtown Alameda. Continuing towards Oak Street, the sounds of Spanish gypsy guitar, driving percussion and Balkan brass will flow from nearby courtyards and patios to create a buzz with engaging music, dance and conversation.
This is all part of Rhythmix Cultural Works’ and the Downtown Alameda Business Association’s Love Our Island Art Walk — Radical Beauty, Part 5 featuring art installations by Nicole Mueller, Najib Joe Hakim and Charlie Sullivan accompanied by live music from Barrio Manouche, Gadje 5 and Omar & Friends.
The Love Our Island Art Walk is an art-centric creative placemaking project that utilizes public art, storefront art installations and music performances to activate Alameda’s historic downtown districts.
