New Team Silva Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy Dojo

The Team Silva Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) Academy held a grand opening ceremony for its new dojo on Feb. 4.

Professor Sergio Silva, a fifth-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and a former world champion of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, lost his previous dojo that used to provide yoga, BJJ and after school programs due of the COVID-19 pandemic. Sergio and his wife Rebecca had to move out from their park studio location and closed their operation.

Now they reopened the martial arts portion at the Alameda Fitness and Spa gym at 2227 Mariner Square Loop.

“The idea now is to create partnerships with open minded businesses that are also in the game to grow and flow in harmony,” said Silva.

Classes are available at the new location offering services to kids, teens, women, adults and seniors. Team Silva has also added new classes and a special class for tweens and teenagers every Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m.

The new dojo has brand new Martial Arts mats, and the Alameda Fitness and Spa has an Olympic-size swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam rooms, saunas, tons of extra activities like Pilates, yoga, CrossFit, Reiki and more.

“Our primary objective in 2023 is to be healthy and thriving with our students and instructors,” Silva said.
