New Satellite Gallery Opens in Local Office
A scene from Lincoln Park by Ginny Parsons
A satellite exhibition of recent paintings of Alameda scenes by local artist Ginny Parsons will open for in the Alain Pinel Realtors office at 2212 South Shore Center.
An opening reception will be held this Saturday, Feb. 7, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Raised in Chico, Parsons has called Alameda her home for more than 20 years.
Parsons’ work involves chance, and uses found wood and other materials. She is interested in dripping, pouring, splashing and moving paint. She works intuitively, using a variety of common household ingredients like beeswax, bacon grease, borax and castoff house paint. Parsons’ imagery comes from nature, a place where she feels the greatest connection and concern. These paintings were inspired by Lincoln Park, which is near her home.
Gray Loft Gallery, which is hosting the exhibition, will donate 10 percent of the proceeds from sales of the artwork to an arts education program benefiting children in Alameda.
The Gray Loft Gallery provides exhibition opportunities for artists in a setting that is an alternative to the traditional gallery model. The formal gallery is located at 2889 Ford Street, third floor, in Oakland. Find out more at grayloftgallery.com, or calll 499-3445.
