NCS Championship Track Meet Results
Multiple Alameda high school track-and-field athletes competed in the North Coast Section (NCS) Meet of Champions event Saturday, May 21 at Dublin High. The event is the NCS championship tournament in track and field.
Alameda High School (AHS) senior David Song finished ninth in the man’s 1,600-meter race with a time of 4:31.22. Song ran eight seconds slower than his prelim race (4:23.21). Twenty-four athletes competed in the race. Song came in 16th place out of 24 competitors in the men’s 3,200-meter race with a time of 9:44.70.
The Encinal High School (EHS) 4x400-meter relay team finished eighth in the race of the same name with a time of 3:30.85. The team consists of junior Diego Cerna and seniors Davis Oduor, Kameron Cole and Isaiah Coss. The team ran 3:26.26 in the prelim. Twenty-four teams competed in the race.
EHS athletes Quinton Rainey, a senior, and Levi Harte, a freshman, finished ninth and tenth in the men’s long jump competition, respectively. Rainey cleared 21’ 4” in the competition, while Harte traveled 20’ 11”. Twenty-four athletes took part in the competition.
St. Joseph Notre Dame freshman Michael Loller could not advance past the prelim stage of the men’s 100-meter event. He finished 22nd out of 24 competitors with a time of 11:54.
Women’s results
AHS senior Madison Tiaffay did not make it past the prelim stage in the women’s 800-meter meet. She finished 13th, just missing the cut of the top 12 runners, out of 24 participants. She finished with a time of 2:22.28.
AHS junior Sophia Carpenter missed the cut at the men’s 1,600-meter meet. Carpenter finished 14th, the cut was at 12, with a time of 5:24.03. Twenty-four athletes competed in the meet. Carpenter finished 16th out of 24 athletes in the women’s 3,200-meter race with a time of 11:43.47.
