Caltrans to Repave Encinal Avenue

Caltrans is scheduled to begin repaving and making other improvements to Encinal Avenue (SR-61) between Broadway and Sherman Street in December. The improvement project is designed to provide motorists with a smoother ride and enhancing safety for pedestrians and wheelchair users.

Council OK’s Universal Basic Income Program

At its Nov. 15 meeting, the City Council authorized the City Manager to execute two contracts to administer the Guaranteed Basic Income (GBI) Pilot Program, which will distribute some of the city’s federally allocated American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to selected low-income households.

Council Approves Housing Element

At its Nov. 15 meeting, the City Council adopted the 2023-2031 Housing Element update with a 3-2 vote. In doing so, Alameda becomes the first city in the Bay Area to adopt their Housing Element for the 2023-2031 cycle.
