National Night Out Brings out the Love

Members of the Alameda Police Department (APD) joined the fun at the Aug. 7 National Night Out on the 1500 block of Sherman Street. The event saw a great turn out, which included both APD officers with McGruff the Crime Dog and a crew from Alameda Fire Department with one of their trucks. The kids really enjoyed the opportunity to meet the public-safety officers. The event featured a potluck dinner, live music and a ham-radio demonstration. The neighbors on Sherman Street used the opportunity to spread information about earthquake and disaster preparedness. Above, members of APD gathered for a photo at the National Night Event include, left to right: Volunteer Gerry Gelly, Mcgruff the Crime Dog, Sgt. Brian Foster (behind McGruff), Lt. Matt McMullen, Lt. Tony Munoz, Sgt. Mark Reynolds, Capt. Don Owyang, and Technician Michaela Parker.
