Menorah Lightings Coming Up for Local Families

 Sunday, Dec. 22, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Chabad of Alameda will host a free Hanukkah Community Celebration. The third annual menorah lighting will feature a fire and LED light show as well as snacks, crafts, a raffle and more. The fun takes places on the waterfront at Nob Hill Foods, 2531 Blanding Ave.  

 Monday, Dec. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. Temple Israel of Alameda will hold its annual Menorah Lighting Celebration on the second night of Hanukkah in the South Shore Shopping Center Court. Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft will light the candles. A special table for the public to light menorah candles will also be available. Admission is free. Enjoy crafts, Hanukkah and Klezmer music, latkes, jelly donuts and bagels courtesy of the temple. Operation Dignity will collect socks for homeless veterans.
