Slogan: “Let’s Keep Alameda Moving Forward — TOGETHER!”

Statement: My top three priorities are interrelated: housing, transit, and climate change/sea level rise. During my tenure as Mayor, we’ve built hundreds of units of affordable housing which helped working families remain in Alameda, and provided homes for formerly unhoused individuals, including seniors, veterans, and families. I will continue to address the housing crisis by building more affordable housing and providing transitional and permanent housing for unsheltered individuals and families. We must invest in safer streets for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists, and increase transit options to reduce automobile traffic and greenhouse gas emissions, to mitigate the impact of climate change and sea level rise on our island community. I will advocate to continue the CARE Team program that directs non-violent calls for service for mental health crises, substance abuse, and/or homelessness to specially trained AFD EMT/paramedics assisted by mental health clinicians, allowing APD officers to respond to serious crime. I also support APD’s ongoing successful efforts to recruit talented and diverse officers to the department. I will champion efforts to support local businesses and attract new businesses to the island.
