Mayor Joins Call for Gun Reform

Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft recently joined 166 Mayors (and counting) from across the country in signing a letter to senators Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer, urging them to immediately call the Senate back to Washington, D.C., to take action on bipartisan gun safety legislation.

“Two-hundred fifty mass shootings this year is both heartbreaking and sickening,” Ashcraft said.
She pointed out that in February, the House of Representatives passed two bills that would greatly strengthen the background-check system. These bills would make cities, residents and first responders safer.

The U.S. mayors’ letter calls on Senate leaders to pass these bills now and demands immediate action to help reduce gun violence in America.
