Ma Wei Returns to Alameda Museum

Dennis Evanosky Chinese artist Ma Wei has returned to Alameda for her fourth exhibition in as many years.

Beijing native Ma Wei has returned to the Alameda Museum for her fourth exhibition. In 2012 her one-woman show Greed and Wish graced the museum gallery’s walls. The following year she returned a second time for Movement of Fautus. And in 2014, she came to the museum with her show Spirit of Monogatari — Zodiac.

Her current exhibition We Are the World runs through Wednesday, Sept. 30.

In 2007, Ma Wei graduated from the Middle Fine Arts School, which is affiliated with the China Central Academy of Fine Arts. Four years later, she received a bachelor’s degree from the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, where she studied in the school’s mural department.

She lives and creates her art in San Francisco and in her hometown, Beijing.

The Alameda Museum is located at 2324 Alameda Ave. It is open Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
