Locals Rally for U.S. Immigrant Families

A group named “Families Belong Together” held a rally and protest on Park Street at Santa Clara Avenue last Saturday, raising their voices and speaking out for immigrant mothers who cannot comfort their children. Alameda families are joining others across the country to demand that the Trump administration reunite families and end family separation and detention for people who enter the United States illegally. The administration’s “no-tolerance” policy at the border with Mexico has sparked renewed interest in passing immigration reform nationally. Both adults and children participated in the Alameda rally for more than two hot and sunny hours with drivers honking and passersby voicing their support.
