Local Volunteers Needed for Earth Day Plantings

A special event, just for Earth Day, this Saturday, April 24, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Alameda Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD) will plant new and healthy trees in Krusi Park, 900 Mound St. Volunteers are need ed to reach the goal of planting 20 trees in one day for everyone to enjoy for years to come.

ARPD is looking for volunteers in ninth grade or older to help in the actual planting of the trees. This includes heavy lifting and ability to dig a two-foot deep hole. Kiddies welcome to watch or play in the park. ARPD will be following all Alameda County Public Health Department guidelines to keep this event COVID-19 safe.

Pre-registration is required for the event with a maximum of 20 people permitted. Volunteers will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. No drop-ins are allowed.
