Local High School Photographer Contributes to Bank’s Calendar
Alameda High School student Matthew Mendoza has an eye for photography, just ask the Bank of Marin. Mendoza’s photo, "Alameda Moving at a Blur," captures an iconic view of Alameda Theater’s sign and surrounding Park Street at night, and was selected from among some 140 photographs submitted to grace a page in the bank’s 2015 community calendar.
Of the 16 students from 10 local high schools whose photos were chosen, Mendoza is the only one representing the East Bay. The 16-month calendar also features January and February of 2016. Mendoza’s image appears on the page for January 2016. The vast majority of students chosen hail from Sonoma and Marin counties. Judges at the bank chose the photographs.
"We are committed to supporting our local schools in a variety of ways," said Russell Colombo, Bank of Marin president and CEO. "We are very pleased to highlight these talented students and give back to schools in the process."
The bank will donate $100 to each school’s photography program for the purchase of supplies and equipment.
The free calendar is available at the Bank of Marin branches at South Shore and Park Street. This marks the fifth year the bank has worked with students in the Bay Area to create this unique giveaway calendar for its customers.
