Local Chosen for Scholarship
Alameda Resident Abigail Leong, has been awarded a President’s Scholarship worth $25,000 a year — along with the opportunity to earn even more from Pacific Lutheran University (PLU) in Tacoma, Wash. Leong was chosen from among the 500 incoming first-year students who apply for the scholarships each year.
PLU offers merit scholarships to recognize academic achievement, leadership and service. The President’s Scholarships are renewable for three additional years of undergraduate study.
This year the recipients scored an average 1300 SAT test score (critical reading and math only), an average 30 ACT test score, and have a 3.98 average GPA. They have been invited to interview on the PLU campus later in February to compete for the next level of PLU President’s Scholarships.
