Listening Session for Emergency Supportive Housing Plan

Listening Session for Emergency Supportive Housing Plan

City of Alameda staff will hold a community listening session to discuss the city’s plan to convert vacant homes at Alameda Point into Emergency Supportive Homeless Housing. The listening session will take place Thursday, March 10, via Zoom.

To address the lack of housing space for the city’s unhoused community, the City Council approved a plan to use existing real estate assets for housing the unsheltered. City staff will provide updates on their plan and are also asking the community for input to hear any comments and concerns.

Three options for using the vacant homes at Alameda Point are being proposed to the City Council:
• The use of one home for emergency housing for individuals who are unhoused, providing five to six beds
• The use of two homes for emergency housing for families who are unhoused, with each home serving one household
• The use of three homes for emergency housing for individuals who are homeless (providing up to eighteen beds) or the use of three homes for emergency housing for families who are homeless (serving three households)

This is the second community listening session on the city’s Emergency Supportive Homeless Housing plan. The first occurred on Nov. 29, 2021. City staff said they used public comment from the first session to revise their plan.

This session will take place at 6 p.m. Interested parties must register to attend the meeting. To register, visit www.alamedaca.gov/Shortcut-Content/Events-Activities/Community-Listening....
