Library Kicks off Social Science Lecture Series
The Alameda Free Library and Wonderfest.org present the opening session of the 2018-19 Social Science event series on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Main Library, 1550 Oak St. Dr. Michael Wehner, Senior Staff Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory will speak on his current research concerning the behavior of extreme weather events in a changing climate, especially heat waves, intense precipitation, drought and tropical cyclones. Changes in the magnitude and frequency of extreme weather are likely the most serious consequence of human-induced global warming. Understanding what the future portends is vital if society hopes to adapt to a very different world. All ages are welcome, no registration required. For questions about this event, call 747-7713.
