About the event

Two-time Carnegie Award winning young adult author Patrick Ness will visit the Alameda Free Library to discuss his new book The Rest of Us Just Live Here.

The event is a part of Books Inc.’s Not Your Mother’s Book Club, which has coordinated previous events with us, including award winning young adult authors such as Laini Taylor and Maggie Stiefvater.

Ness has written for England’s Radio 4 and Sunday Telegraph and is a literary critic for The Guardian. He is also the author of the popular Chaos Walking Trilogy, The Crash of Hennington, Topics About Which I Know Nothing, and A Monster Calls.

The event takes place Thursday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m. No registration necessary. Doors open at 5:45.

About the book

What if you aren’t the Chosen One? The one who’s supposed to fight the zombies? What if you’re like Mikey, who just wants to graduate and go to prom and maybe finally work up the courage to ask Henna out before someone goes and blows up the high school. Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week’s end of the world, and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life.
