Learn What to Expect from the Next ‘Big One’

Alameda Free Library, Wonderfest.org and the Friends of the Alameda Free Library present a Social Science event series, “California and the ‘Big One’” on Sunday, April 28, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Main Library, 1550 Oak St.

Scientists know that California will experience another large earthquake. But what details do they have? What will this earthquake be like? How accurate is the portrayal seen on television and in movies?

Join William Hawley, a UC Berkeley Department of Earth & Planetary Science graduate student will explore the topic. Hawley’s research interests include seismology, subduction zones and geodynamics.

No registration is necessary. All ages are welcome to this free event. Find out more about the library’s partner at www.wonderfest.org.
