Learn about Sailing with the Sea Scouts

File photo    The Sea Scouts are the seafaring version of the Boy and Girl Scouts. Their program is a good way to begin learning the skills necessary to pilot a sailboat.

Alameda teens are invited to learn about a local sailing education program Sunday, May 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Sea Scout Ship Makai Open House.

The Sea Scouts are an organization dedicated to teaching youth boating and seamanship skills, leadership and the traditions of sailing and the sea. The program includes instruction in power, sail and small boats (Zodiac, canoes and kayaks), navigation, weather and more.

Reserve now to join a two-hour San Francisco Bay Cruise from 1 to 3 p.m. aboard a 45’ sailboat. Contact Darryl Sweet at (408) 507-1558 or darryl.r.sweet@gmail.com to reserve, or visit www.sea
scoutshipmakai.com for more information. Sea Scouts is a program of the Boy Scouts of America.

The open house takes place at Ballena Bay Yacht Club, 1150 Ballena Blvd. Meet at the guest dock behind Pier 29 restaurant.
