Kang, Leed Tie for Golf Tournament Honors
Vivian Kang and Claudia Leed won the Alameda Women’s Golf Club net tournament event last Thursday, March 21, on the Jack Clark Course. Kang and Leed both posted net 69s.
Leed competed in the third flight among golfers with a handicap of 28 to 31. She beat out Fran Mori (net 70), Linda Hallsey (net 73) and Sarah Valentine (net 74) to win the flight. Debbie Adams shot a net 77 for fifth place in the flight.
Kang competed in the sixth flight among golfers with a handicap of 38 to 40. She beat out Pam Curtis and Susan Logan, who both posted net 73s in a tie for second in the flight. Lynette Mladinich shot a net 74 for fourth place in the flight.
Kari Vadnais shot a net 72 to win the first flight — handicap of 11 to 19. Lynn Kobatake shot a net 73 for second place in the flight. Kathy Nagakura shot a net 75 to for third place, while Val Buschor posted a net 76 for fourth place in the flight. Bushor and Kobatake both shot overall 87s for the lowest-gross scores of tournament. Tai Chewpanich posted a net 77 to round out the top five in the first flight.
Claire Loud won the second flight — handicap of 20 to 25 — by shooting a net 71. Phoebe Yu came in second place with a net 73. Tracy Perkins shot a net 75 for third place. Jeanne Yip posted a net 78 for fourth place. Bernice Herzberg and Chizu Holmes tied for fifth place with matching net 79s.
Barbara Mickle won the fourth flight — handicap of 30 to 34 — with a net 70. Yvonne Lee shot a net 72 for second place. Alice Wong shot a net 78 for third place in the flight.
Carolee Ziegenhagen posted a net 70 to win the fifth flight — handicap of 34 to 37. Leann Curran and Jean Eddy finished tied for second place in the flight with matching net 75s.
Forty-four golfers competed in the event.
