Junior Golfers Compete

The 2019 Junior Golf Association of Northern California championship (JGANC) take place on July 15 and 16 on the Jack Clark Course.

Travis Miller from Castro Valley was the boys’ overall winner. He posted a 73 and 71 in his two rounds of play for a combined 144. Cindy Wong of San Jose won the girls’ overall tournament with a 73 in round one and a 75 in round two for an overall 148.

Kane Lauterman won the boys’ 16- to 18-year-old division with a 146. Joey Haden won the boys’ 14- to 15-year-old division with a 149. Colin Keith won the boys’ 12- to 13-year-old division with a 149 after two rounds of play. 

Kailer Stone shot a 72 to win the boys’ 10- to 11-year-old division. Nakul Shrivastava shot an 84 to win the boys’ 7- to 9-year-old division. Both the 10- to 11-year-old and 7- to 9-year-old divisions were nine-hole competitions.

Chanel Hong won the girls’ 15- to 18-year-old division with a 151. Francesca Sumcad posted a 149 to win the girls 12- to 14-year-old division. 

Emma Wang won the 10- to 11-year-old division with a 78. Sparrow Pierzina shot an 89 to win the 7- to 9-year-old division. 

More than 130 players competed in the tournament.  

JGANC is a non-profit organization that has run golf competitions since 1970. It offers a variety of fun, competitive, affordable junior golf tournaments for boys and girls ages 7 to 18. In JGANC, children will have the opportunity and experiences necessary to grow and excel in both golf and life.
