Jr. Golfers Compete
The Alameda Junior Golf Club continued its summer season with the Club Championship tournament at the Chuck Corica Golf Complex last Wednesday, Aug. 3.
Conor Neal won the championship on the boys’ side with a 76 (37 on the front nine, and a 39 on the back). Elizabeth Scholtes won the tournament on the girls’ side with a 72. She shot a 36 on both the front and back.
In other competition, Jacob Katanski beat Harrod Tang in a tiebreaker to win the 16- to 18-year-old boys’ division. They both shot a 78. Peter Del Prete shot a 79 for third place.
Dominick Chung posted an 81 to win the 14- to 15-year-old boys’ division. Beck Anderson shot an 83, while Liam Neal shot an 88. Alphiu Esguerra was able to get under 80 on his way to win the boys’ 12-to 13-year-old competition. He shot a 79. Henry Lambert finished two strokes behind at 81, while Brice Chin finished in third with an 87. Amaan Kanji shot a 27 (nine-hole competition) to win the boys’ 10- to 11-year-old division.
Lauren Tan was victorious in the girls’ 15- to 18-year-old division. She shot a 78. Alexandra Hauck and Corine Tan both shot 82 to tie for second place in the division, but Hauck won the tiebreaker. Alezis Esguerra posted a 75 to win the girls’ 12- to 14-year-old division. She blew away the competition. Isabel Kim was the next closest competitor by shooting an 84. Penny Chai shot a 34 (nine-hole competition) to win the girls’ 10- to 11-year-old division.
