Jets' NCS Football Game Postponed Again
The North Coast Section (NCS) committee announced that many of the postponed football section playoff games from last week would be delayed at least another week including Encinal's Div. III quarterfinal match against Cardinal Newman of Santa Rosa.
Encinal's match was rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17, but according to NCS website, the game is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 24. Many section football playoffs throughout the state was postponed due to the poor air quality caused by the Camp Wildfire near Chico and the Woolsey Wildfire in Southern California. Encinal's match against Cardinal Newman was originally scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 10, but the wildfire, which began Thursday, Nov. 8, caused the game to be postponed.
The California Interscholastic Federation, the governing board of California high school athletics, announced that it would push back the scheduled dates of the regional and state football championship games by a week to accomodate the new schedule. The regional championships, NorCal and SoCal, will take place on Dec. 7 and 8, while the state championship matches will take place Dec. 14 and 15.
The match against Cardinal Newman will be a rematch of last year's NCS Div. III quarterfinal. The Cardinals defeated the Jets 49-32.
