Islanders Runners-Up at NorCal Tourney

alamedasoccer.org    The Alameda Islanders 2009 girls red team celebrate their second-place trophy at the NorCal Premier State Cup Sunday, Jan. 27. The team went 3-1 in the two-day soccer tournament.

The Alameda Islanders’ 2009 girls red soccer team finished second at the NorCal Premier State Cup tournament after losing to the San Juan Soccer Club Spirits, 1-0, in the final Sunday, Jan. 27.
The Islanders’ 2009 girls’ team is an under-10 team. The team played in the Division 4 Gold Cup division of the Premier State Cup tournament. 

The Islanders began the tournament with two wins on Saturday, Jan. 26. First they took down the California Odyssey Soccer Club of Salinas, 7-2, in the quarterfinal. In their second match, played several hours later, the Islanders defeated San Ramon Football Club, 2-1.

The Islanders started Sunday off on the right foot with a 2-0 win over Valley United of Fresno in the semifinal. However, the winning momentum stopped in the final against the Spirits of San Juan. 

The matches on Saturday took place at Mistlin Sports Park in Ripon, while the Sunday matches took place at Woodward Field in Manteca.
